Tania Hron ^^ Shamans, witchcraft, plant medicine, and global climate change

July 9, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Indigenous communities all over the world suffer from climate change. Some have begun to find ways to protest and to unite with other indigenous groups against the destruction of our world. Shamans, witches and healers are an integral part of many indigenous cultures. Their holistic understanding of healing recognises and emphasises the mind, body and spirit connection. Moreover, they also believe that family, tribe and environment are key elements in individual healing. Their marginalised knowledge and the uprising of indigenous in the – from a western perspective – peripheral parts of the world is crucial for us.

Tania Hron studied cultural anthropology, literature, and cultural science and media philosophy at Humboldt University, where she also worked with the media philosopher Friedrich Kittler. After his death she worked at the German Literature Archive in Marbach with his estate. She is currently working for different museums in Berlin and for Avtonomi Akadimia.
