Kasia Wojcik ^^ Creating the Nomadic Constitution; Open Assembly on Citizenship, Political Rights and Migration

June 15, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

With: Kasia Wojcik in collaboration with Eleni Tsamadia, Amazigh Labidi, George Anagnosotopoulos, Maria Juliana Byck

How can artists use the imaginary space of art and deconstruct fixed and fictionary notions of the state? How can we invent and create spaces of radical community that are beyond the state and invent poetic tools for a politics of here and now? The artistic idea of a nomadic constitution contemplates on a normative instrument that integrates the wishes, needs and fears of people on the move. Like the movement of particles, migration is part of a universal truth that affects us all, an existential phenomenon accelerated by the coming catastrophes.

At this open gathering, we want to critically and creatively reflect on the ideas of citizenship, political rights and participation. What kind of values do we need to live together? What does it mean: „the good life“ ? And how can art create spaces “beyond the nation-state”? How can music and dance connect us with our initutive knowledge, creating a constitution beyond words? We invite especially migrant citizens and activists to share their experiences. The assembly will be held in English. Translation will be made possible for participants with language needs.
