A sperm whale in our rhizome garden is a lecture about the urban and social fragmentation of Athens forced by the multinational investing companies and the exploitation of contemporary culture.

Dimitris Papachristos is a visual artist, geographer and art educator, holder of a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts of Athens and a master from the University of the Aegean. Daily reality and social changes that basically take place in the built environment – as this is the basis of the artistic system are a source of material and ideas for his art. On this basis it attempted a multilayered research about the physiology of the art praxis, especially concerning its synapses with capital and politics. By defining scientific research (journalistic, social) as an artistic practice and vice versa he creates narratives that showcasing how cultural landscape is affected and transformed by contemporary political and social systems.
Since 2021 he is a founding member of the art space Poeme desing and fine arts in Nafplio where he is organizing creative workshops and curating the cultural activities, while at the same time teaching art in Primary Education. Some of the organizations he has collaborated with are the Fougaro Art Center, Atopos CVC, the War Museum of Nafplio, the University of Peloponnese, the Athens School of fine arts, Twixt-lab, Common space Athens and Participatory lab.
