Extinction Rebellion (XR), “Resistance to Extinction,” is a global socio-political movement that uses forms of non-violent disobedience to protest against climate change, biodiversity loss, the risk of human extinction and environmental disaster. The world’s leaders have failed to cope adequately with the urgent and noble pressure from scientists and environmental organizations. This is why action by the citizens themselves is necessary. The key demands: the government must “tell the truth” by declaring “emergency climatic emergency”, reduce pollutant emissions to zero by 2025 and set up a Citizens Assembly that set climate priorities by skipping parliament.
